Disorientation and the search of impacts of disorientation on the accidents of army aviation

In this research, operational risk area survey is aimed by analyzing the Disorientation (SD-Spatial Disorientation) events that the Army Aviation pilots face all over their lives. In the operations phase, a questionnaire has been given to 200 pilots, and it has been aimed to get useful results by entering the out coming results in the program called Microsoft Excel. In the research as the result of the analysis of the status of the pilots, their experiences, the trains they take, the flight phases in which SD can be faced, their mental and physical conditions and the meteorological conditions, that the pilots between 21-25 are disoriented more and that the pilots of utility helicopters can be disoriented in any phase of the flight has been determined. In the direction of the determined precedence, it has been presented that the best way to cope with SD is to know very well the weakness of human physiology and the conditions in which SD occurs, to take lessons from the lived events, and to make complete them with experiences, to approach SD professionally and to bring up the necessity of training on this subject with the most modern instruments and finally the proposals of risk minimizing have been presented to the pilots.
