Abstract (EN)
Breakdown between the formation of the oxidants and antioxidant mechanisms to oxidants named oxidative stres. Recent studies suggest that oxidative stress increases in Diabetes Mellitus (DM), but the mechanism cannot be exactly explained. An increase in oxidative stres shown at sleep failure like Obstructive Sleep Apne Syndrome (OSAS), insomnia and a reason of sleep failure like restless leg syndrome.50 patient whose sleep quality is good and 50 patient whose sleep quality is bad are added into patient group, 25 healty person whose sleep quality is good and 25 healty person whose sleep quality is bad are added into control group. Biochemical tests, Total Antioxidant Status (TAS), Total Oxidant Status (TOS) and Oxidative Stress Index (OSI) were measured from the blood samples which were taken from patient and control group. For evaluating sleep quality Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PUKI) was used.We determined TAS, TOS and OSI levels significantly higher at patients group (in order, at patients group, 1.74± 0,26, 6,63± 4,42 and 0,39±0,26 at control group, 1,60±0,31, 3,77±1,83 and 0,25±0,15).Patient ant control group determined about sleep quality within, we cant determined significant difference between good and poor sleep quality patients group about TAS, TOS and OSI (In order at good sleep quality patient group 1,73±0,20, 6,95±4,63 and 0,41±0,27, at poor sleep quality patient group, 1,75±0,30, 6,32±4,24 and 0,37±0,25).We cannot determined significant difference between good and poor sleep quality control group about TAS, TOS and OSI ( In order at sllep quality control group, 1,51±0,40, 3,90±1,97 and 0,29±0,19, at poor sleep quality control group, 1,69±0,15, 3,64±1,71 and 0,22±0,10).Key Words: Diabetes Mellitus, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, Total Antioxidant Status, Total Oxidant Status
