An investigation on the effects of different sowing densities on the yield and parameters related to yield at the some winter lentil (Lens culinaris Medic.) varieties under the Diyarbakir's ecological conditions

This study aimed to investigate the effects of five sowing densities (150, 200, 250, 300 and 350 plant/m²) at the four winter lentil varieties (Fırat-87, Şakar, Altıntoprak and Çağıl) on yield and parameters related to yield under the Diyarbakır ecological conditions in the 2006-2007 growing season.The experiment was arranged in split plots design with three replications. Different sowing densities for first pod height, number of plants diameter, number of pods per plant, seed yield per plant, 1000 seed weight, biological yield and grain yield were statistically significant, but for number of primary branch per, number of seeds per plant and harvest index were not significant.When plant densities increased, first pod height, biological yield and grain yield increased, but number of pods per plant, seed yield per plant and 1000 seed weight decreased.The highest yields were obtained from 300 plant/m² for cv. Altıntoprak, 350 plant/m² for cv. Çağıl, 350 plant/m² for cv. Şakar and 350 plant/m² for cv. Fırat-87 with 180.0 kg/da, 154.0 kg/da, 145.0 kg/da,143.0 kg/da respectively.
