Abstract (EN)

Environmental issues such as climate changes or global warming result in more rapid destruction of the world than its self-renewal and it came with the result of increased interest and awareness of people on environmental matters. Understanding that the fossils are scarce fuel on the earth, being a threat for the human health in addition to their damage to the environment of the and increasing aggravation of the pollutants from vehicles, regulations established by the various authorities are also the factors that triggered the formation of this consciousness. The resulting awareness has necessitated the researchers and automotive manufacturers to search for alternative fuel and develop new Technologies. Especially, the thoughts of fuel that has clean combustion characteristic as LPG and CNG and methane could be used in diesel engines have been raised and in this regard, various R&D practices began to reach to the result every passing day. Methane stands out as a clean fuel by the high cetane number and low C content of its. But it turns out to be a promising method using with H2 that has fast combustion ratio to eliminate the drawbacks encountered with the use of methane. In this thesis carried out; the first stage was modifying the engine which has originally mechanical injection system to common rail system controlled by ECU. With modified engine, the effects of 10%H2- 90%CH4 and %30H2-%70CH4 gas combinations with the ratio of 25% and 50% in the constant injection advance and rail pressure on the different speeds of combustion, engine performance and emissions. During the experiments, both gas injector and the diesel injector opening time are checked and kept constant by the designed micro controller.
