Abstract (EN)
In this study, different ratio of transesterified methyl esters of rapeseed oil and hazelnut oil were tested in a diesel engine. Performance and emission variations were investigated in a four-stroke, four-cylinder diesel engine having 46 kW output power at full load operating conditions. The results showed that, engine torque, power, specific fuel consumption (SFC) and emissions were not changed significantly, with different blends of rapeseed oil and hazelnut oil methyl esters (B1-B5). Engine torque and power were decreased by 1.5% and 1.6%, SFC was increased 5% with 50% rapeseed oil methyl ester (B1) compared to diesel fuel at 2100 rpm engine speed and full load operating conditions. Smoke emissions decreased by 34.6%, O2 increased by 3.35% at 1600 rpm and CO2 emissions decreased by 4.2%, CO emissions increased by 1.3% at 2100 rpm engine speed with B1 fuel. NOx emissions also were increased by 0.7% at 1200 rpm engine speed with B1 fuel. Engine torque and power were decreased by 2.5% and 2.6%, SFC was increased by 8.6% with 50% hazelnut oil methyl ester (B2) at 2100 rpm engine speed. Smoke emissions decreased by 40.4%, O2 increased by 2.7% at 1600 rpm engine speed. CO2 emissions decreased by 5.1% at 2100 rpm, but CO and NOx emissions increased by 35.6% and 4.9%, respectively at 1200 rpm engine speed with B2 fuel. Similar results were obtained with B2, B3 and B4 blends of diesel fuel, methyl esters of rapeseed oil and hazelnut oil. Engine torque was decreased by 2.1% with B3 blend and 1.9% with B4 and B5 blends compared to diesel fuel at 2100 rpm engine speed. Engine power was also decreased by 2.1% with B3, B4 and B5 blends at the same engine speed. SFC was also increased by 6.2%, 8.7% and 7.1% with B3, B4 and B5 blends, respectively at 2000 rpm engine speed. From emission point of view, O2 was increased by 3.9%, 6.1% and 3.2% with B3, B4 and B5 blends at 1600 rpm. CO emissions were increased by 13.1% and 4.4% with B3-B4 and B5 blends at 2100 rpm. However, at the same engine speed, CO2 decreased by 5%, 4.5% and 4.6%. NOx emissions was increased by 1%, 4.9% and 4.2% at 1200 rpm and smoke emissions decreased by 38.5% and 36.5% with B3, B4 and B5 blends compared to diesel fuel.Key Words: Diesel oil, Rapeseed oil methyl ester, Hazelnut oil methylester, Engine Performance, Exhaust emissions.
