ABSTRACT MSc THESIS THE EFFECTS OF USING THE DL-ALANIN, DL-METHIONIN AND THEIR COMBINATION ON THE GROWTH OF CARPS (Cyprinus carpioLinnaeus, 1758) FINGERLINGS__ ZEYNEP ERÇEN DEPARTMENT OF FISHERIES INSTITUTE OF NATURAL APPLIED SCIENCE UNIVERSITY OF ÇUKUROVA Supervisor: Asst. Prof. Dr. Nazmi TEKELİO?LU Year 2004, Pages: 33 Jury: Asst. Prof. Dr. Nazmi TEKELİO?LU Prof. Dr. Ferit KARGIN Asst. Prof. Dr. Mahmut YANAR In this study, the effects of diets including various DL-alanin and DL- methionine proportion on growth of the carp fingerling {Cyprinus carpio Linnaeus, 1758) were examined. The carps whose mean body weight were 14.13±0.83 g were used as experimental material. Feeding study was conducted for 60 days. The research was composed of ten groups, consisting the artificial diet and the diets including %0.5 methionine, %1 methionine, %1.5 methionine, %0.5 alanine, %1 alanine, %1.5 alanine, %0.5 alanine+methionine, %1 alanine+methionine and %1.5 alanine+methionine. At the end of the trial, the groups fed diets including DL-alanine and DL- methionine showed more gain weight than the other group fed artificial diet (P<0.05). Among the groups fed diets including DL-alanine and DL-methionine similar growth rate and body weight gain was observed (P>0.05). Live rate was %95.23 on the groups fed diets including %1.5 methionine and %0.5 alanine+methionine, whereas it was %100 on the other groups. In view of feed conversion and gain weight, the best results were obtained from the group fed on diet including %0.5 methionine, and results were 1,56 and 0.17±0.01, respectively Keywords: Carp, DL-alanine, DL-methionine, Growth II
