Prof. R. Tuğrul OGULATA In this study, the juglon (1.4 Naphthoquinone-5 hydroksy) was isolated which is extracted from the walnut and used traditionally as a dyestuff in the Textile Industry. The extracts obtained were synthesed in pH 3 and pH 7 as a solid dying substance. The synthesed solid dyestuff were used to dye woollen fabrics by boiling. The samples were tested for the colour fastness against to light, rubbing and washing. In addition, 1.2 Naphtoquinone was synthesed to obtain a synthetic dyestuff, chemically similar to a natural dyestuff. By the chemical reaction with 2.amino phenol, the schiff base was produced. The woollen fabric samples were dyed with and without mordan using the sciff base, then they were tested for the colour fastness against to light, rubbing and washing.
