Isolation of denitrificant bacteries from native environments and investigation of use for denitrification

Abstract (EN)

In this study, denitrification capabilities of bacteria, which were isolated from biofilm grown on the plug material of a small constructed laboratory scales wastewater treatment system having a fixed-bed and bottom airation, were investigated. Denitrification efficiency of these strains with high denitrification cababilities were idendified by using NO3-N and COD removal analysis from wastewater containing NO3. Total 19 of the bacteria isolated from the wastewater treatment system were found to have denitrification capabilities. NO3-N and KOI removal rate of these bacteria detected as 95,7% and 73,8%, respectively The isolated denitrificant bacteria were identified as Klebsiella pneumoniae, Klebsiella oxytoca, Comamonas testosteroni, Enterobacter cloacae, Alcaligenes faecalis, Citrobacter freundii with VITEK-2 automated system.
