INVESTIGATION OF USABILITY OF NATURAL AND ARTIFICALPOZZOLANS IN THE COMPOSITE CEMENT PRODUCTION(M.Sc. Thesis)Mustafa DAYIGAZI UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYJanuary 2006ABSTRACTIn this study, usability of natural pozzolan and waste materials in theproduction of cement was investigated. For this aim, Manisa-Gördes zeolite (Z), Kemerköy fly ash (UK) and penglass waste (C) were used. Three types of pozzolans (Z+UK+C) wereadded to Portland cement clinker as ternary mix to produce compositecements. Grinding duration of cements was kept constant andpozzolans were added to mix by 5 % and 10 % of cement weight.Chemical composition and properties, physical properties and tensileand compressive strengths, at the age of 7, 28 and 90 days, ofproduced cements were compared with control cement PC 42.5.It was observed that, CUKKÇ5 type cements gave the highest strengthat almost all ages. Taken results have shown that, produced compositecements are convenient to related Turkish Standards and Z, UK and Ccould be used as an additive material in the production of cement.Science Code : 714.1.143Key Words :Composite cement, pozzolans, zeolite, fly ash, wasteglassPage Number : 77Adviser : Assoc.
