Abstract (EN)

Different doses of tannin extracts derived from Calabrian Pine (Pinus brutiaTen.) and Kermes Oak (Quercus coccifera L.) leaves in Eastern Mediterraneanregion were applied to the oignon (Allium cepa L.) root cells and their mutageniceffects together with the effects on the reproduction of Proteus sp., Staphylococcussp. and Bacillus subtilis var. niger were determined. Tannin extracts decreased themitotic index (MI) and increased the abnormal cells, dose depently, in Allium ceparoot cells Even at low tannin dosages (0.04 µg and 0.05 µg) reproduction of bacteriawas prevented.Activity of microorganisms was a decreased in tannin added soils (4.8 µg forPinus and 7.6 µg for Quercus) in a dose dependent manner.
