Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to develop a method in order to determine rapidly the fabric unit length using the main and ancillary measures without setting the pattern, and develope a computer software. In the study, the areas of the garment pieces are calculated with the assistance of the main and ancillary measures in the measurement chart. Then, the fabric unit length of the garment is calculated using some parameters as the total area of the garment piece, fabric width, efficiency of the marker, rate of waste; and the value of any shrinking. In the study, first of all the studies about calculating the fabric unit length in apparel company is analyzed. Then various denim pants and skirts in a woven garment plant are analyzed, the formulas for each piece of model pattern are developed to calculate the areas of the pattern correctly without setting the pattern. The areas of all the pattern pieces were calculated with the assistance of the developed formulas. Then the resultant measurements from both the developed formulas and the CAD systems were compared. In order to support the developed method about the calculating unit length, a software is developed. Developed software have three main function: to enter a new model to the system, to search models according to desired criterias from the database, to change the entered models properties and save the updated data.
