The effect of transformational leadership on organizational citizenship behavior: A research in primary and secondary schools

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to study the relation between administrators' transformational leadership styles and teachers' organizational citizenship behaviors. The data of this research have been gathered through surveys conducted on 159 teachers working in the 2018-2019 school year in primary and secondary state schools in Gazipaşa district of Antalya. The research datas have been analyzed via frequency, correlation and multiple regression analysis. According to the analysis results, administrators' transformational leadership has a positive and significant impact on teachers' organizational citizenship bahavior. When further evaluated within the sub-dimensions of transformational leadership, it has been observed that transformational leadership's inspirational motivation and individualized consideration dimensions have positive and significant impact on teachers' organizational citizenship behaviour while charisma(idealized influence) and intellectual stimulation dimensions have no significant impact. When studied in scope of sub-dimensions of organizational citizenship bahavior, it has been observed that transformational leadership has a positive and significant impact on organizational citizenship's helping behavior, sportmanship, conscientiousness and civic virtue dimensions.
