Development of glamping tourism in the world and a model proposal for Kastamonu within the scope of natural tourism

When it comes to nature-based tourism, camping tourism, which comes to mind first, has developed from traditional tent camping to include caravans, recreational vehicles and luxury offers, and over time, the concept of "glamping" consisting of the words "fascinating" and "camping" has emerged. The aim of this study is to examine the development of glamping tourism in the world and to determine whether glamping tourism can be done in Kastamonu, which stands out in the field of nature tourism through successful examples, and if so, what kind of modeling will be done. In addition, considering the development of glamping in the world, it is among the aims of the study to present an intellectual infrastructure for the future glamping areas in Turkey. In the study, with the document analysis, which is one of the qualitative data collection tools, the information about the glamping areas of the countries, regions and cities that come to the fore in the field of glamping tourism in the world were examined through secondary sources. From these glamping models, five glamping establishments in the Oregon region, which are thought to be similar to Kastamonu in terms of climate, location, geographical features, nature and tourism market, were examined in depth. Themes for glamping establishments in Kastamonu were determined by considering certain criteria (location, services offered, nature activities to be done, suitability of accommodation units) that were determined to be successful in the Oregon region. Finally, a SWOT analysis was made in terms of glamping tourism in Kastamonu with the findings obtained from the study. According to the results of the study, it has been determined that Kastamonu has an advantage in glamping tourism in terms of its geographical feature, nature, climate and location. In addition, it has been seen that there are many districts, towns and natural areas that can be evaluated in terms of glamping tourism in Kastamonu, and the city is rich in terms of national parks, nature protection areas, bays, valleys, rivers and lakes. It has been determined that the presence of activities and events that can come to the fore in the field of glamping tourism will bring the city to the fore in the field of glamping tourism. Finally, the study was completed by making use of the SWOT analysis data and presenting various suggestions.
