E-municipality and the impact on municipal financial structure: Canik Municipality

In that study, the effects of electronic municipal applications on financial management were examined in the municipalities that have an important position in the municipal corporation system with the e-municipality understanding. The field research part of the study is made with Canik Municipality. The features of businesses which have no electronic business and the businesses that are electronic non-profits are given and then the features of electronic municipality concept are exhibited; e-municipality's development process in Turkey was examined for better understanding of e-municipality applications. In order to explain the financial implications to the municipality better, some features like revenues of municipality, the structure of the budget of municipality; municipality budget and the characteristics of municipal accounting were presented. Although it is seen that the e-municipality applications which have no significant contribution to the municipality are investigated; it is foreseen that raising the awareness of people about e-municipality applications and make those applications' credibility recognized will contribute to the municipality financially.
