Abstract (EN)
This study consists of two different goals. The first main purpose is to comparatively investigate the symptoms of obsessions and compulsions that parental divorced and non-divorced individuals may develop in their romantic relationships. This goal was analyzed in the lead of the measurement of obsession and compulsion in the romantic relations developed by Doron et al. 2012, and it was translated into Turkish by Trak and İnözü. The second purpose aimed to comparatively examine attitudes toward marriage in both individuals who experienced parental divorce and who were not experienced it. This goal was analyzed in the lead of the measurement of obsession and compulsion in the romantic relations developed by Doron et al. 2012, and it was translated into Turkish by Trak and İnözür. To anticipate the second purpose, the measurement of marriage attitude was utilized which was developed by Breaton and Rosen (1998) and translated into Turkish by Öz Soysal et al, (2016). Hypotheses were created accordingly, and data were collected from individuals who were above the age of 18. The survey was implemented by 248 different individuals, and the survey was transmitted to participants via social media. The result indicated that the attitudes of individuals toward marriage with married parents were higher than those of individuals with divorced parents among individuals who experienced parental divorce and individuals who were not. This result showed that the participants whose parents are married have more positive attitudes toward marriage. However, no significant difference was found between individuals with and without divorced parents in terms of obsession and compulsion symptoms developing in their romantic relationships. Current study is contibuting fruitful benefits to literature, due to the fact that it is the first study on obsession and compulsion symptoms developed in romantic relationships between divorced and non-divorced parents.
