Abstract (EN)

Abbasid history is the period that ruled after the Umayyad state from 132/758 to 656/1258- until the defeat by Hulagu Khan, the grandson of Cengiz Khan - and has an important place in Muslim history. It is a new period that started with the silent rebellion of Muhammad b. Ali within the Umayyad state and started with the declaration of Abu'l-Abbas as caliph. This new period is different from the previous period in every way. Politically, the lands expanded, socially the people were embraced, cultural diversity increased, and significant progress was made in literature. There are many reasons for the developments in political, social and cultural terms. One of the leading reasons for the progress that took place in literary terms is the value given to men of science and literature. They were held in high esteem, and the dynasty and the people gave them the value they deserved. Of course, these values given bore fruit. One of these fruits is Abu'l-Atahiye, an indispensable part of classical Arabic literature books. The poet was born during the time when the Umayyad state was dying and became one of the leading poets of the Abbasid state. There is a clear contrast between his youth and his adult years. In his adult years, he turned his back on the bad environment of his youth and the bad friends of these environments and devoted himself to asceticism. He could not contain this devotion and gave advice as if shouting so that others would not fall into the same bad experiences he had and the muddy pits he had fallen into. This advice has survived to the present day through his poems. His unique style, which transcends the rules of poetry, and his deep-meaning poems written in a simple language have been loved and read in every period. This has ensured and will ensure that he will never be forgotten in any period.
