Abstract (EN)

İndividuals who are the part of society acquire information, skills, values, attitudes and crucial behaviors that may be used in the future firstly in their families and in their close environment, then in schools Accordingly, values education which has an important place in education is given in the first years of primary schools and then in Social Studies as well. In 2005, Social Studies curriculum which more emphasized on values education was developed and practiced in schools. In this curriculum some crucial values for the grades between 4-7 were determined. In the process of teaching values to the students, it is stated that literary works can be used with many methods. This study will deal with the values found in Atabetü'l Hakayık, written by Edib Ahmed B. Mahmud Yükneki had been kept as a morality book in the twelfth century. This study also employed qualitative research approach and document review technique was used to collect data. Descriptive analysis method was used in the analysis of the data obtained as a result of the research. At the end of the analyses, the findings showed that scientificness, honesty, benevolence and sensitivity, besides the social and religious values such as modesty, generosity and conviction have been identified. The values determined as parallel to the Social Studies curriculum were evaluated and some suggestions were made related to the findings.
