Educational landscapes in early years: A comparative study of Turkiye and Indonesia's approaches to early childhood education

The education system of a country has an important role in determining the country's progress and development, for this reason, countries in the world always innovate in their education systems in order to align their education with the needs of the times and globalization. One of the ways is by conducting education comparisons with other countries. This study discussed about the education system in Turkiye and Indonesia in term of education process and education environment. This study uses multiple case study research methodology, with a qualitative approach. The data sources in this study were interview results of 14 Kindergarten school teachers from 6 schools in Turkiye and Indonesia. The data were obtained through documents, Interview, observation, and the field note, Qualitative data were analyzed through descriptive analysis technique. Validity and reliability data gathered from source triangulation, reviewing data from different sources. The result of the study show that the education system in Turkiye and Indonesia has similarity and differences in some aspect. The differences showed on the learning planning, Turkish focus on activity, monthly and daily, while Indonesia focus on semester and weekly planning, otherwise they pay attention to the same thing when preparing the learning planning, such as need of children, age group, and development of student. They make the learning activity flexible due the situation and condition, and 3 kinds of evaluation conducted in both countrie (Children, Program, Teacher evaluation). Educational environment indoor and outdoor are similar, both country have centers in the class, and some centers outside, play area, and farming area. What make it different is Indonesia has religion center in the class, and one learning center one classes, and in Turkiye have all centers in one class.
