Abstract (EN)

Bending tests of the Concrete Filled Steel Tube (CFST) beams with artificial notches in the steel tubes were conducted in this thesis to investigate the effects of the material imperfections of steel tubes on beam flexural. This study presents the results of an experimental program the bending behaviors of CFST beams with notches in the steel tube circular two different thickness (2mm, 4mm) involve of 26 specimens which consist of 24 with notch CFST beams, two (control) without notch CFST beams were investigated in the present work. Investigating the flexural performance of Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC) filled steel tube beams The CFST with notches from the top, bottom and sidewall with two different thicknesses and two different lengths of the notch (long and short). The moment carrying capacities, ductility, failure modes, moment - mid span deflection relations, bending moment capacities were presented. The results also show that the notched CFST specimens had lower mechanical performances than the intact CFST specimens. Furthermore, the investigating notch in the bottom more effect and danger to the structures when compared with the notch top and sidewall for (2 mm, 4 mm), in addition to the notch in the bottom had less than ductility from top and sidewall. Keywords: Self compacted concrete (SCC), Concrete Filled Steel Tube (CFST) beams, notches, flexural strength, ductility.
