Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to determine the effect of educational computer game design method on the academic success of students. The study was carried out 4th grade students of Yenikent İlksan Elementary School which is located within Ankara province. The investigation that was conducted with respect to the experimental model with pre-test/post-test control group, 34 students (17 experiment, 17 control) were assigned randomly. To be used in experimental phase of the study, ?Make and Play Game? application, containing topics in the Fractions unit, has been developed for the students can design and play educational games on the web. Within two weeks, the experimental group students designed the educational games while the control group students played the educational games. The students were asked to complete the success level test before and after the practices, the data were analyzed in the SPSS package programme. According to the results of the success level tests before and after the practice; both groups showed statistically significant increase and there was no significant difference between the success levels of the experiment group in which educational computer game design method was used and the control group in which the educational games were used.Key Words: Educational Game Design, Constructivist Approach, Game-Based Learning Environments, Processes of Creative Thinking
