Abstract (EN)
Traditional settlements have been established from past to present; are heritage sites that need to be protected that reflect a nation's social, cultural and structural characteristics. Traditional settlements are urban areas that are part of the world cultural heritage and should be transferred to future generations with all their unique qualities. Today, with the increasing urbanization, areas that need to be protected, such as natural areas and protected areas, are damaged. Different approaches are being discussed today to create healthy, identity-based spaces that will provide a solution alternative to the problems that come with urbanization and increase the quality of urban life. One of these approaches is ecological design. Eco-based designs that can be applied in both urban areas and traditional settlements will help to preserve these areas and pass them on to future generations. Cumalıkızık is one of the original examples of traditional Anatolian settlements and it is an area that carries the qualities of the period with its rural urban texture, wooden houses, local people living in the region and silhouette features that have survived to this day. While the village preserves its rural character with its original examples of civil architecture, it is also a historical settlem ent that continues its agricultural activities with agricultural lands and has preserved its traditional texture to a significant extent. The main purpose of the research is; to examine the traditional settlement of Cumalıkızık, which is an important cultural asset, within the scope of ecological design, to protect it and to offer suggestions that will ensure its sustainability. In order to ensure the sustainability of the traditional settlement of Cumalıkızık village, conservation approaches and landscape design support; It is aimed to reveal the application methods and tools. In this context, in line with the ecologically based design approach and targets, the components of urban ecology were analyzed, ecological design criteria were determined and evaluated in this context and conservation and design suggestions were developed for the research area.
