Abstract (EN)

This study is composed of three parts. Firstly , in chapter one, taking a look at theoretical frame of economical stabilization; the concept of economic instabilization ,its indicators are defined and the basic definition of economic stabilization is made. Moreover, there is some basic information in this chapter which casts light upon the other chapters.In chapter two, the stabilization policy and crisis of Latin countries are mentioned. Because these countries bear a striking resemblance to our country in economical and social aspects. Then , some examples about Mexico, Argentine, Brasil, Chile and Bolivia are given and some evaluations are made in the light of these examples.In the third and last chapter, economic stabilization measures taken in Turkish economy after 1980, the reasons and consequences of these measures are analyzed. Furthermore,the crisis Turkey experienced in 1980 and then,stabilization programmes including structural adjustment and stabilization schedules which were conducted to remove these crisis are examined and the consequences are tried to evaluate.Consequently, our study tries to reach an in-depth viewpoint about the concept of economic stabilization and the crisis which is a tremendous problem in our country as it is in the world. Additionaly, in this study, Turkish economy is scrutinized with different indicators being parallel to these developing country examples.KEY WORDS: Economic Crisis, Financial Crisis, Stabilization Programmes, Stabilization Policy, Decisions of 24 January, Decisions of 5 April, The Year 2000 Crisis, The Year 2001 Crisis.
