Abstract (EN)
Job satisfaction of the workers is important to provide a good health care. Job satisfaction occurs when the wills of the workers complies with the features of the job. The aim of this study is to assess the job satisfaction of the the primary health care providers and the factors affecting it. This cross-sectional and descriptive study was carried out among the staff in The Family Physicians Centers, The Public Health Care Centers and The Fight Tuberculosis Dispanseries İn Elazığ Province. After necessary permissions were taken, the questionnaire was completed by the staff of The Family Physicians Centers, The Public Health Care Centers and The Fight Tuberculosis Dispanseries under direct observation. Out of 310 people consisting of the study universe, 283 participants (94%) were reached. The participants consist of 104 doctors, 132 assistant health care providers and 46 others ( janitors, drivers) The mean age of the participants was 37.21±7.70, 60.6% of them were women, 80.1% married, 96.5% graduated from at least High school. The mean of the general job satisfaction point of the participants in the study is 63.24±13.63. While the mean of the general job satisfaction point of the physicians and the nurses is found higher, the mean of the general job satisfaction point of janitors and other staff is found lower. The mean of the general job satisfaction point is found higher among the permanent and contract employee, women, health care staff, those whose wife/husband works, who chose his job willingly, who has much more education, who has longer working hours, who has high income, who has 3 or less children and who finds his job suitable for his skills; however the marital status, having children and age do not affect the mean point. As a result, the mean of the job satisfaction scale point is calculated higher among those who has high income, who finds his job suitable for his skills, who chose his job willingly. This implies that there must be a wage balance among the staff having the same status. The lower job satisfaction among lower income staff indicates that the solution is to rise the wages; and the lower mean of the general job satisfaction point in The Public Health Care Centers indicates the necessity of improving the conditions of The Public Health Care Centers. Key words: Primary Health Care Providers, job satisfaction
