An investigation into Elazig regional boarding secondary schools bioharmological characteristics

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this PhD thesis is to identify the bioharmological characteristics of regional boarding secondary schools. To this end, five Regional Boarding Secondary Schools (RBSS) in the city of Elazığ were analyzed in terms of the theoretical bases of Bioharmological Conformity Assessment (BCA), Planning, Project Design, and Application (PPA) criteria, Projection Level of Spatial Features (PLSF) criteria, Life Space Bioharmological Conformity Values (LSBCV) and user satisfaction in five Regional Boarding Secondary Schools (RBSS). The results revealed that none of the RBSS buildings was compatible with the BCA certificate in terms of PPA and LSBCV criteria. The RBSS3 building was found to be "Inappropriate" in terms of PPA criteria while others were evaluated as "Should be improved" and as regards PLSF criteria, the RBSS2 building was rated as "Inappropriate" and others were rated as "Inappropriate" to be low quality buildings. In terms of LSBCV criteria, they have deficiencies in terms of environment temperature, dew-point temperature, light, sound level, noise, magnetic field, number of particles in the air, air speed, wall internal speed temperature, classroom capacity, area of classrooms, number of classroom users, the unit volume per user, and unit per number of users. In conclusion, the physical characteristics of the regional boarding secondary schools examined in Elazığ were not found to be appropriate for the school's user identity and purpose of use and may have negative biological, physiological and psychological effects on students.
