Karyological invesgation on some Alyssum L. species growing in Elazig

Karyological Invesgation On Some Alyssum L. Species Growing In Elazığ In this study, karyologic properties of five species of Alyssum L.' s genus (A. strigosum, A. szowitsianum, A. linifolium, A. desertorum, A. hirsutum), which are grown in Elazığ, were investigated. Seeds of the examined species were benefited from for chromosome studies. In consequence of the studies performed in divisible somatic cells, chromosome counts and karyotype analyses of species were done and idyograms were generated. It is found that among species chromosome number for A. strigosum is 2n=16, A. szowitsianum is 2n=16, A. linifolium is 2n=16, A. desertorum is 2n=32, A. hirsutum are 2n=46. It is confirmed that the chromosomes are median point (M), median region (m), submedian (sm) and subterminal (st) centromeres. Satellites were observed in the chromozome pairs number eight of A.strigosum. Key Words: Alyssum, Brassicaceae, Chromosome numbers, Cytotaxonomy, Karyotype
