Abstract (EN)
Electric vehicle charging stations are an essential infrastructure supporting the proliferation of electric vehicles, which are an environmentally friendly and sustainable transportation option. However, the impact of electric vehicle charging stations on the grid must also be considered. The reason for the impact of electric vehicle charging stations on the distribution system is the high power requirement for fast charging of electric vehicles. In addition, when multiple electric vehicle charging requests occur in the same area, there is an increased power demand. This leads to an increase in the energy needs of the charging stations, straining the capacity of local power grids. The fast charging requirements of electric vehicles increase the load on the grid, leading to harmonics, voltage fluctuations, and overloads in the system. This situation can cause problems such as energy losses and power outages. Additionally, infrastructure deficiencies may emerge in areas with a high density of charging stations, requiring additional costs. Moreover, in regions where electric vehicle charging stations are excessively concentrated, infrastructure deficiency problems related to the grid may arise. In this case, new grid investments and additional costs for power distribution may be required. In conclusion, the adverse effects of electric vehicle charging stations on the grid cannot be ignored. However, with proper planning, smart grid technologies, and regulations, the necessary infrastructure for the proliferation of electric vehicles can be provided, and the effects on the grid can be minimized. In this study, electric vehicles and electric vehicle charging stations were examined, simulation studies were carried out in the PowerFactory DIgSILENT program and the effects of electric vehicle charging stations on the grid were examined. For the application study, the medium voltage single line diagram of the Fırat University campus was used.
