Abstract (EN)

As electric vehicles replace gasoline-powered vehicles on the roads, efforts are being made to address the numerous challenges associated with them. Charging cost optimization is an important issue that involves finding common solutions to different problems. In this study, an optimization method for charging plans is proposed to minimize travel costs, which are essential not only for electric vehicle owners but for all vehicle owners. The energy consumption of electric vehicles, which is influenced by road and weather conditions, was analyzed on a sample route using values published in the literature based on measurements. The results obtained were used to evaluate charging optimization for an electric vehicle traveling from Istanbul to Iskenderun, considering the stations along the route and their current prices. Electric vehicles selected from five different segments were optimized with different initial charge rates, and the amount of energy required at each station to achieve the lowest cost was determined. The optimization utilized the vehicles' actual consumption data and the current unit prices of the charging stations. Finally, the inter-city fuel consumption costs of gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles on the same route were calculated for each electric vehicle segment, and a comparative analysis of the optimized electric vehicle's cost was conducted.
