Investigation of factors affecting the use of electronic library services: An application at Kutahya Dumlupinar University

Libraries that have moved their services into the electronic environment with technological developments have started to provide their traditional services through electronic libraries. Libraries, which are non-profit service organisations, need to evaluate their services in order to learn whether the electronic services they offer meet the expectations and demands of their users or how they can provide a better service. This study includes an evaluation of the acceptance and use of electronic library services provided by the University Library by the academic staff of Kütahya Dumlupınar University. With the data obtained from the faculty members and staff working at Kütahya Dumlupınar University, their evaluations of Kütahya Dumlupınar University Şehit Astubay Ömer Halisdemir Library and its relationship with their usage intentions were tested. The UTAUT2 scale was used for this evaluation. The data were collected using a questionnaire technique and analysed using SPSS and JAMOVI software. It was found that the two strongest factors influencing acceptance and use of electronic library services are performance expectancy and habit; there is no significant relationship between effort expectancy and social influence and behavioural intention, while hedonic motivation has a negative relationship with electronic library intention and behaviour. Facilitating conditions were found to have a full mediating role on behavioural intention to use the electronic library.
