Elmalılı's approach to the verses related to reasoning inhis commentary The Truth God's Religion Quran's language

Throughout Islamic history, Muslims have given importance to understanding the Holy Quran and for this reason, Islamic scholars have written translation and commentary of the meaning in various languages. One of these scholars is Elmalılı Muhammed Hamdi Yazır. The period in which Elmalılı lived affected his understanding of science. The fact that it coincided with the last period of the Ottoman Empire allowed it to benefit from past scientific knowledge and Islamic sciences. However, as it coincided with the beginning of the Republican Period, it did not remain indifferent to new developments and benefited from the scientific knowledge of the West. He also applied this method in his commentary called The Truth [God]'s Religion Quran's language. This can also be seen in the way Elmalılı, the subject of our study, approaches the verses in the Quran about reasoning or the verses talking about scientific truths. Elmalılı also included philosophical and theological issues in her commentary and sometimes applied the scientific method of commentary. In the introduction part of our study, Elmalılı's life and works are mentioned, in the first part, the concept of mind is discussed from various aspects and the words used in the meaning of mind in the Holy Quran are included. In the second part of our study, Elmalılı's approach to the verses in the Quran that talk about reasoning was evaluated. In the last chapter, Elmalılı's explanations based on reason on issues in various branches of science are presented. In the conclusion section, a general evaluation of the entire study was made and the results obtained were explained.
