The effects of Industry 4.0 on the logistics sector

With globalization, technological and economic developments have occurred. As in every business, forcing businesses to work flawlessly and more effectively in the logistics sector was due to the emergence of global markets, the globalization of competition, and finally the emergence of Industry 4.0, also known as the Fourth Industrial Revolution. As a result of these difficulties, the logistics sector has restructured the supply chain and logistics, and has brought it to a digital environment, especially as it has a dynamic and very comprehensive structure that includes technological developments, especially new business models, market searches and new customer expectations. The industrialization process is a process extending from past to present and it is expressed over four different waves. The events that have witnessed history are the internet, which creates the environment for the world to be a global village, and revolutionary innovations in the field of information technologies, the invention of machines that provide motion with the help of water and steam power, and the transition to mass production with the help of the assembly line. With Industry 4.0, it has taken action thanks to the motivation to regain the competitive advantage in production originating from western countries, and Industry 4.0 is a flexible production strategy that takes the form of an official industrial policy by being introduced in Germany in 2011. This revolution differs from other revolutions and progresses rapidly, making the use of many technological structures such as autonomous robot, internet of things, big data, cyber-physical systems possible in industry and helping existing production to become smarter.
