The effect of the intellectual level on the clothing of Turkish and European women from industrial revolution to present

Abstract (EN)

Industrial Revolution is a radical transformation, which started with the innovation of the machines worked with steam engines and with the usage of these machines in production, in industry and economy. The basic areas which Industry Revolution attracted were textile, transportation, communication and iron and steel industry. Transportation and communication devices (ships, train, telephone..etc) worked with the steam power were innovated as well. It was targeted to inspect the effect of the technological developments and modernization process which started with Industrial Revolution on Turkish and European women's dress choices by regarding their social and economical positions, education levels and intellectual levels. To be able to achieve this aim eight well educated and important intellectual women were choosen from Turkey and Europa. Those model women's styles were studied with the help of their photos by regarding their education, proficiencies, families and social lives. The styles of these intellectual model women were analysed with respect to their educations, jobs, incomes, cultur, psychologies and traditions. Those women's daily life photos were reviewed by regarding their periods's properties.
