Abstract (EN)

The Industrial Revolution is a turning point that leads to radical changes in people's lives and the environment they live in. While the change that accelerated with the revolution affected every area of life, the leading structures and equipment of the industrialization process lost their efficiency in the face of new technologies, became out of order and were left to their fate. Today, the process of transferring industrial buildings that have become symbols of industrialization and modern architecture, but lost their function over time and gained cultural heritage in terms of urban memory and urban identity, to the future, and the process of preserving these structures and adapting them to contemporary life is gaining more and more importance. It is important to preserve their original identities while bringing the industrial buildings to the city life with an appropriate function. In addition to being abandoned, Industrial Heritage structures are being destroyed more and more every day by neglect, unconscious repair or re-functioning works made with random decisions without determining a general method. The sustainability of the new functions gained as a result of the reuse of these structures is important for the protection of cultural heritage. Within the scope of the thesis, parameters have been determined within the framework of international acceptances in order to preserve Turkey's industrial heritage structures and transfer them to future generations, and conservation principles and method proposals have been developed considering Turkey's unique conditions and conservation legislation
