Abstract (EN)

Energy efficiency, often referred to as the first fuel by the International Energy Agency, allows facilities to produce more with less energy by operating existing equipment with more efficient designs, replacing them with efficient equipment and using new technologies. In this thesis, Energy Efficiency Measures (EEM) suggestions for existing cooling equipment in a Food and Beverage (F&B) facility were determined by the measurements made and the savings that these recommendations will provide were calculated. In order to evaluate the efficiency of the cooling system and optimize its performance, various measurements and controls were carried out. These measurements provide detailed information about the operation of the system, allowing the necessary adjustments to be made and the system to operate more efficiently. In order to calculate the efficiency of the facility's cooling system, water temperatures, flow, pressure and energy consumption parameters were measured. It is recommended that the existing chillers in the cooling system be replaced with newer, high-efficiency models equipped with variable-speed drives to increase the system's overall efficiency. According to the performance assessment, the proposed configuration is projected to save approximately 45.15% of the current system's power consumption (176 kW), calculated by dividing the reduction in power demand (79.46 kW) by the current system's power consumption and multiplying by 100. This improvement indicates that implementing the high-efficiency chiller will reduce electricity demand by nearly half, delivering substantial operational energy savings while supporting cost reduction and sustainability objectives.
