Abstract (EN)

The investigation of new methods for reinforcing reinforced concrete buildings is a popular topic, particularly in recent years, there has been a focus on researching the effectiveness of materials such as Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) as an alternative to TRM (Textile Reinforced Mortar) for reinforcement. The aim of this study is to experimentally demonstrate the increase in axial load capacity of reinforced concrete columns using innovative materials and to determine the effectiveness of reinforcement details. Reinforced concrete (RC) columns are essential elements that support buildings; therefore, reinforcing them when necessary is extremely important. Within the framework of this thesis study, the effectiveness of both FRP and TRM in increasing axial load-carrying capacity has been investigated for short square column members. The content of the study consists of two main parts. In the first part (Study 1), the effectiveness of details commonly used in FRP strengthening techniques, which are widely applied in practice, was examined, and the most effective application details were determined. In the second part (Study 2), both the results obtained from Study 1 - which determined effective FRP details - and those obtained from TRM reinforcement applied according to technical specifications were compared. For both parts' investigations, thirty-three square RC column specimens measuring 150 mm by 300 mm were produced and strengthened. All specimens were subjected to axial loading experiments to obtain stress-strain diagrams. The resulting data was then compared.
