Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to examine the sub-dimensions of adolescents' life satisfaction in terms of various demographic variables and the relationship between life satisfaction and emotional regulation strategies and perfectionism. The sample of the study, which was conducted with the relational research method, consisted of 666 (344 female, 322 male) adolescents in the 7th and 8th grades studying in secondary schools and imam hatip secondary schools in Gaziantep province, Şehitkamil district. Personal Information Form, The Regulation of Emotions Questionnaire, Multidimensional Student Life Satisfaction Scale Short Form and Child and Adolescent Perfectionism Scale were used as data collection tools in the study. The data obtained within the scope of the research were analyzed with the SPSS 27.0 package program. Then, Independent Samples t Test, One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Pearson Correlation Analysis techniques were applied to examine the relationships between variables. As a result of the research, it was determined that family, environment and general life satisfaction, which are among the sub-dimensions of adolescents' life satisfaction, differed significantly according to gender, while friendship, school and self-satisfaction did not differ significantly. It was determined that environmental and overall life satisfaction differed significantly in terms of grade level, but family, friendship, school and self satisfaction did not differ significantly. It was determined that all sub-dimensions of life satisfaction differed in terms of the close friendship variable, but all sub-dimensions of life satisfaction did not differ in terms of report card averages. When the bilateral correlations between the variables are examined, life satisfaction has a low-level positive relationship with internal functional emotional regulation, external functional emotional regulation and self-perfectionism; While there was a moderate negative relationship between life satisfaction and internal dysfunctional emotional regulation, a low level negative relationship was found between life satisfaction and external dysfunctional and socially-based perfectionism. The findings were discussed within the framework of the information in the literature and suggestions were made for researchers and practitioners in line with the research findings.
