Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted as a descriptive study to determine the relationship between adolescents' perceived parental attitudes, psychological problems and irrational beliefs. The research was conducted between April 2022 and June 2022 with 341 high school students in adolescence at a high school in Şanlıurfa. As a data collection tool in the study; Personal Information Form, Perceived Helicopter Parent Attitude Scale (AHETÖ), Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire and Irrational Beliefs Scale for Adolescents (EMİÖ) were used. Data analysis was done with SPSS 23.0 package program. Kurtosis and Skewness values were used to evaluate the suitability of the data for normal distribution. Relationships between variables were examined using Pearson's Correlation Coefficient when the data conformed to normal distribution, and Spearman's Correlation coefficient when it did not. Comparison of means (average) in two groups was made using Student's t test when the data followed a normal distribution. Linear regression model was used when the data were normally distributed. A value of p< 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Necessary ethical and institutional permissions were obtained to conduct the study. It was observed that the total scores of the adolescents on the Irrational Belief Scale were 55.32 ± 11.35. he total mean score of the Mother Perceived Helicopter Parenting Attitude Scale was 55.32 ± 11.35. The total score average of the Father Perceived Helicopter Parenting Attitude Scale was found to be 46.62 ± 11.34. Adolescents' Difficulty and Difficulties Questionnaire total score averages were 15.66 ± 5.73 and mean scores were at the border. It was found that the participant adolescents included in the study had a strong negative relationship between the irrational belief scale and the perceived helicopter parenting attitude of the mother (p<0.001). It was determined that there was no statistically significant relationship between the irrational belief scale of adolescents and the perceived helicopter parent attitude of the father (p>0.005). It was determined that there was no significant relationship between the adolescents' irrational belief scale and the difficulty and difficulties scale and its sub-dimensions (p>0.005). . Our study results revealed that the parental attitudes perceived by the adolescents from their parents may cause mental problems in adolescents and create non-fluent beliefs.
