Investigation of self-efficiency perceptions of parents and preschool teachers about private skills recognition and education in early childhood

This study was conducted with the parents of 30 children, aged between 7 and 15 years old, with an average age of 9.47, and participants who worked as preschool teachers, as a specially talented individual. Opinions of parents and teachers regarding self-efficacy in recognition and education of specially talented individuals in early childhood were examined. It is aimed to identify problems with regards to education and education of special talented individuals in preschool education by revealing differences and differences in terms of parents and teachers, and to help find solutions and suggestions by revealing the causes of the problems. This research was carried out with parents of students attending Malatya Science and Arts Center (BİLSEM) with different socioeconomic and experience characteristics and preschool teachers working in public kindergartens in Malatya Province Yeşilyurt and Battalgazi districts. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 30 parents and 32 teachers who voluntarily participated in the study. The semi-structured interview form developed for parents and preschool teachers consists of two parts. In the first part, there are questions about the personal information of the participants, their experience with the professional, academic and special talented individuals. In the second part, there are 10 questions for parents and 12 questions for preschool teachers to get opinions about self-efficacy about the recognition and education of special talented individuals in early childhood. The first 10 questions asked for the Teacher and Parent are questions in the same manner and are aimed at in-depth comparison of the answers given by the teachers and parents to the same questions. The last two questions added to the teacher form aim to reflect the views of parents regarding the teacher. For the analysis of this study carried out with qualitative research method, firstly, the transcript of each interview was written. For each question, a merge document consisting of responses from transcripts was issued. The answers are categorized by collecting them under main coding. Subcoding was obtained from the categorized responses. In sub-coding, similar expressions collected under a title have been collected and final tables have been obtained for each question. Findings were formed by analyzing the tables. The results obtained from the findings are summarized and interpreted in line with the sub-problems of the research. From the results of the research, expectations and suggestions were obtained about the characteristics and discovery of special talented individuals in early childhood, the education of the talented child in early childhood, the ability of the teacher to recognize and give education, the discovery and education of the talented child in early childhood. In the last part, suggestions for parents, teachers, public and higher education are presented.
