Abstract (EN)
With the newly established republic, as with the changes made in many fields, an education system was tried to be established in the field of education that would adapt to the new world order by removing the merders at the center of the system. Since Mustafa Kemal attaches great importance to national education, he took care to choose the Ministers of Education especially from people with a teacher background in the first years. In 1930-1932, this task was carried out by Mehmet Esat SAGAY, who was a teacher from the military school. Mr. Esat, who was born in 1874 in Karaferye, Thessaloniki, as the son of Manastır Asar Minister Mr.Yusuf and Naima lady, moved to Istanbul with his family after the death of his father at the age of eight and lived in Bursa for a while. His school life started in Pristina and continued in Istanbul, first in civil and then in military schools. Mr. Esat who got used to an orderly and disciplined life approach in military schools, was particularly interested in astronomy, mathematics, chemistry and foreign language lessons. He graduated from the Military Academy in February 1894 as the first in the infantry. Mr. Esat, who started his duty as a lieutenant in the 33. Redif Liva Annexation of the 5th Army in Syria on March 8, 1984, was engaged in politics outside of military service, and with his friends Doctor Captain Muharrem from Crete and Süleyman from Rhodes, he established the Syrian Committee of Union and Progress, headquartered in Damascus, and transferred its activities to the districts. They even expanded it to Beirut. During the Balkan wars, he participated in the Balkan wars by making an application of his own will, and after the start of the First World War, he became the head of his unit on February 16. After the war ended, he served as an inspector in the Air Force Command until his retirement. After leaving the military, he worked as a manager for a short time in a company selling military equipment in Istanbul, then, at the request of the Minister of Interior, he worked as the Registrar of Official Offices for the Telephone Company, and later as a consultant. In 1926, he joined the Istanbul Municipality as a member of Beyoğlu. In 1927, he entered the parliament as the deputy of Bursa in the parliamentary elections. Between September 27, 1930 and September 18, 1932, he served as the Minister of National Education. Although he signed many new regulations during the Ministry of National Education, he took initiatives for new regulation studies carried out in the following times. After resigning from the Ministry of National Education, he served as the Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey in 1932, 1933 and 1934.
