Abstract (EN)

Lexicalization is the morpheme brought to an existing word or lexeme and the word becoming dull (combining) and the two structures gaining a new meaning. Lexicalization occurs as a result of the morpheme brought to the main word losing its main function and function. In short, if a definition is made regarding the lexicalization method/technique; lexicalization is the merging of two separate word structures without deviating from the meaning of the main word; and the suffix brought to the word losing its main meaning/function, and the two structures becoming a new word and gaining a new meaning. The word and the morpheme brought together with instant formation become widespread among the public and the word takes its place in the vocabulary. Thus, the word is derived with the lexicalization method/technique. There are word derivation methods in the Old Turkish period, which is the first written period of the Turkish language history. However, there are not many studies on lexicalization among these methods. Therefore, this thesis aims to conduct a detailed research on the lexicalization of the modal suffixes used in the Old Turkish period. Old Turkish is examined in three branches: Köktürk, Old Uyghur, Karahanlı. Since the number of works belonging to this period is high, research will be carried out based on a sufficient number of documents. Documents belonging to the Old Turkish period will be scanned and word formations will be examined and it will be determined whether there are words derived from the lexicalization method/technique among the words in the vocabulary of Old Turkish. Due to the scope and purpose of the thesis, the lexicalization of the indicative and accusative mood suffixes of the Old Turkish (Köktürk, Old Uyghur, Karahanlı) period will be emphasized. Analysis and classifications will be made based on the obtained data and documents.
