Evaluation of well data of Alpu Plain (Eskişehir) using geographic information systems

Water is an essential material for living life. That?s why this natural wealth should be used carefully to avoid its deterioration and preserved in the best status. If water can be exploited by optimally man can find it in clean and sufficient conditions still in future. By this dissertation, data obtained from the boreholes in Alpu Plain, which driled by State Hydraulic Works between 1954 and 2004, were evaluated and chemical analyses results of 2007 were interpreted by using Geographical Information System to determine water quality and quantity which needs to understand the productive regions in the study area. By this study, numerical maps of Alpu Plain were prepared using all data of the well logs. On the basis of these data, some queries could be executed by Geomedia 5.0 programme. The aim of this study is to store in computer memory the borehole data of Alpu Plain and to put all data together in order to provide any information concerning groundwater properties in the plain. Additionally, thanks to this study, the computerized data will be easily updated whenever it is required.
