Self-esteem and communication skiils of the sentenceds at the h type covered prison of Eskişehir

This research was investigated whether there is or not differences between sentenceds' level of self-esteem and communication skills and period of staying prison and frequency of entering the prison at the H type covered prison of Eskisehir. For this ainl, this research was conducted with 152 sentenceds who staying H type covered prison Eskisehir and collected useful data from 136 sentenceds. " Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale" was used to collect data about level of the sentenceds" self-esteem and "Assesment of Communication Skills Scale" was used to collect data about sentenceds' perpection of own communication skills. Also" Personal information Form" used to collect data about sentenceds' age, education level, information about commited of offense, frequency of entering prison and period ofstaying prison. In this investigation, according to charasteristics of variables, t test and one-way variance analysis was used to data analysis for whether or not there was a diffrences between variables and significance level test. In addition, Fisher LSD test was used to determine interaction between variables. Significance level was determined .05 for statistical analysis. According to findings, sentenceds' communication skills and perception self-esteem were found high level. According to frequency of entering prison, research's finding shows differences between showing psychosomatic sypmtoms, feeling threat from relationship between person, parents relevance and psychic isolation . In these subscales, negative characteristics of sentenceds, staying two or more years at the v pnson, was found significantly high. Sentenceds, a long period staying prison, significantly perceive low level about father's relevance. However, according to frequency of entering prison and period of staying prison, perceiving level of communication skills and self-esteem are not significantly differences.
