Abstract (EN)
The present study started out aiming to investigate the HEL and LF status in the serum of renal failure patients due to acute kidney injury (AKI) or chronic kidney disease (CKD). Hence, this study was concerned with 60 patients with renal failure and 60 healthy people as control from both genders with ages ranging from (15 - 25) years. The specimens were estimated in terms of Hexanoyl-lysin adduct (HEL) and Lactoferrin (LF) using enzyme-linked immune sorbent inspection kits (Elisa) and some biomarkers of renal failure using automated analyzer methods. The results revealed that the level of renal function, Electrolytes and sugar were significantly elevated (p-value = 0.0001) in the serum of CRF patients compared with their counterparts in the control group. Furthermore, the lipid profile parameters were non-significantly different between CRF patients and control, except for TGs and VLDL, which were significantly elevated in CRF patients. The level of Fe was significantly higher (p-value = 0.005) in the serum of CRF patients than that of the control group. In addition, the biochemical assessments indicated significant elevation (p-value = 0.0001) in HEL and LF levels in CRF patients when compared with those of the control group. Both HEL and LF are concluded to be good sensitive markers in the diagnosis of renal failure disease.
