Abstract (EN)

Suicide terrorism constitutes major contemporary social problem cutting across almost every facet of the society, and a relatively new and complicated characteristic of global modern terrorism. Terrorism in general and suicide terrorism in particular put to question almost all international human rights values, thereby necessitating particular attention from researchers and policy makers. Most legal philosophical assessment of this phenomenon have so far been focused largely from the perspective of Utilitarian, Kantian and Aristotelian schools of ethics. This notwithstanding, the problematic of terrorism and suicide terrorism remains the greatest threats to mankind. It is against this backdrop that a care ethics perspective offers a different starting point to the problem of suicide terrorism and terrorism which is more effective and efficient in the assessment, prevention and containment of this phenomenon than does the other traditional schools of ethics. This justifies why the main research problem of this study centers on why and how care ethics approach should be adopted in the assessment and fight against the phenomenon of suicide terorism and terrorism.
