Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this study is to determine the intention to continue the continuous usage of interactive electronic books among the electronic books used as basic material by the learners in open and distance education. In this context, information systems expectation- confirmation model was utilized and the original model was extended with variables that were thought to affect learner motivation. In order to obtain the opinions of the learners, a new questionnaire was formed with the validated and reliable questions that were used in the literature. The data obtained through the survey were analyzed according to Structural Equation Modeling method with the help of SPSS and AMOS software. The analysis results show that the intention to continue the continuous use of interactive electronic books is significantly affected by the confirmation of expectations, the sense of perceived benefit and pleasure. It is seen that the innovative approach of the users does not significantly affect the intention of continuing to use interactive e-books continuously. In addition, the sense of tactile discordance does not directly affect the intention to continue to use continuously, but indirectly. While the majority of the studies towards electronic books and interactive electronic books in Turkey deal with the concepts of content, definition, design and architecture, portability and reproducibility, this study focuses on the variables that affect continuous use based on user opinions. Previous studies have shown that interactive electronic books are effective when used. However, they were not widely used. Interactive electronic books with effective use offer advantages to authors, publishers and readers but not being used at the desired level indicates that steps should be taken towards usage tendencies and intention to use. In order to take these steps, it is necessary to determine the factors that affect the intention of use. When these factors are identified and effectiveness rates are determined, studies on interactive electronic books will be shaped and more efficient. Therefore, this study directly examines the intention of users to continue using interactive electronic books and related variables. The effect of these variables, the strength of their relationship with each other and the intention to continue to use will shed light on subsequent applications and research.
