Clean and efficent synthesis of N-aryl and N-alkyl

Succinimides being imide derivatives are the important class of heterocyclic compounds. They are used as intermediates for the synthesis of natural and synthetic compounds in organic synthesis of natural and synthetic compound in organic synthesis. There are several methods to obtain succinimides in an easy way. However, these processes have some disadvantages such as use of hazardous organic solvents and catalysts. In this study, ın order to develop a new method according to "green chemistry" concept, we synthesized succinimides derivatives by reacting succinic acid with various primary amine, phenlyhydrazine and hydrazine in hot water without using catalyst. The desired products were obtained in %28-96 yields after 2-5 hours reaction time.
