Abstract (EN)

The present research aims to concentrate on the impact of flood events on planning in Edirne city considering the issue of Climate Change. Both these issues require a substantial attention, due to the fact they are not limited only to a specific area, rather they are of a global character. Climate Change is an ongoing process that directly affects environmental conditions of the planet. Even though that the most evident and commonly discussed feature of Climate Change is the global increase of climate temperatures, still Climate Change is related to a range of complicated natural processes and therefore also reflects in changing precipitation, sea level rise and seasonal weather patterns shift. At the same time, Climate Change can cause various changes according to a particular place on the Earth. Thus, one of the most important parts of the current research is tied with investigation of how Climate Change is expected to impact floods in Edirne city in future. For that purpose, the study analyzed scientific articles of various researches, as well as adaptation plans and related publications regarding the topic. Furthermore, an applied analysis is developed using the Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and hydraulic modeling.
