Abstract (EN)

In addition to all the information obtained in studies on the SARS agent SARS-CoV and the MERS agent MERS-CoV, during the COVID-19 pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2, the immunogenic capacity of the S and N structural proteins of coronaviruses and also vaccine candidates using the S protein as the antigen have been shown to induce a protective immune response mediated by neutralizing antibodies. The primary cause of death in COVID-19 patients was initially defined as acute respiratory infection with severe pneumonia. Cardiovascular problems and coagulation problems due to severe systemic inflammatory state have attracted attention as aggravating factors in the clinical picture of people infected with SARS-CoV-2. Biomarkers that can guide prognosis have also been investigated. It has been reported that serum levels of MCP-3 (monocyte chemotactic protein-3) and IP-10 (interferon gamma-induced protein-10) chemokines are elevated in studies conducted in COVID-19 patients hospitalized in the intensive care unit and progressing to a fatal process. During the pandemic process, it has emerged that protective vaccines against the COVID-19 epidemic must be rapidly produced on a large scale and distributed all over the world.
