Abstract (EN)
Osteoporosis (OP) is a skeletal ailment characterized by decreased bone strength exposing an individual to an increased risk of fracture. Osteoporosis is divided into primary and secondary forms. Among the most frequent conditions are postmenopausal osteoporosis (type I) and senile osteoporosis, referred to as primary osteoporosis (type II). A study case-control included 100 females with progress osteoporosis 50 of them were postmenopausal HOMA- with insulin resistance (G2), and the other 50 were postmenopausal HOMA- without insulin resistance (G3), and 50 age- and sex-matched females enrolled as a healthy control group (G1). In G1, both G2 and G3 patients, the results of all biomarkers indicated a significant difference statistically was found between G1vs G2 and G3 (p-value<0.0001*) for each marker individually, and there was a positive correlation between BMD and BMI in both G2 and G3, a negative correlation between BMD and BMI in the G1, and a negative correlation between BMD and serum osteocalcin in all study groups G2, G3 and G1, respectively, and a negative correlation between BMD and T. score in G2, G3 and G1, respectively. The thesis concluded that there was a negative correlation between BMD and T. score in all study groups G2, G3 and G1, respectively; a positive correlation between BMD and BMI in both G2 and G3.
