An evaluation of the use of educational software in efl classrooms: Teachers' and students' perspectives

The purpose of the study is to contribute to the literature on evaluating and using educational technology with a specific reference to English Language Teaching contexts. It is designed to elicit data on using and assessing language learning software from both students? and teachers? perspective. Therefore, the study asks both students and teachers working at İstek Foundation Private Gönen Schools to indicate their views about using language learning software in lessons. The data have been collected through questionnaires given to students and teacher interviews. To support the data collected from the questionnaires and interviews, and to get further insights into how a specific language learning software (WordBird?s Word Land) is used in classroom environment, one lesson of each teacher has been video-recorded and analysed. Participants of the study include 100 primary and secondary school students and 6 teachers working with these students at the same school.Key words: Computer assisted language learning, Educational software, Student perspective, Selecting language learning software.
