The relationship between married individuals' conscious awareness in marriage and satisfaction of basic psychological needs in marriage

This study aimed to examine the relationship between the conscious awareness levels of married individuals and the satisfaction of their basic psychological needs. The differentiation of the satisfaction of basic psychological needs according to demographic variables was examined. A total of 400 people, 307 married women and 93 married men, participated in the study. The data obtained were collected using the Personal Information Form, Conscious Awareness in Marriage and Satisfaction of Basic Psychological Needs in Marriage Scale. The analysis of the scores was SPSS22program A moderately significant relationship was found between the participants' conscious awareness in marriage and the satisfaction of their basic psychological needs in marriage. A moderate and positively significant relationship was found between conscious awareness in marriage and the sub-dimensions of the need for love/belonging, the need for fun, the need for freedom and the need for power. Therefore, as conscious awareness in marriage increases, the satisfaction of basic psychological needs in marriage also increases. Conscious awareness in marriage predicts the satisfaction of basic psychological needs. The satisfaction of basic psychological needs does not differ significantly according to gender, education level, age at marriage and the status of meeting the spouse. The age of the participants, the number of children and the duration of marriage create a significant difference in the satisfaction of basic psychological needs. The findings obtained from the research were discussed within the framework of the relevant literature and suggestions studies. Key Words : Conscious awareness, Basic psychological needs, Marriage
